We came here on our way back from Bromo en route to Ijen. The place did not seem that great at the gate, as like many other tourist places in Indonesia, there were many stalls selling food, which makes it seem messy. We had a local guide that took us around from the gate. When we were there, there were some works being done to create wooden path and bridge to make it easier to walk towards the waterfall. Our guide surprised us by taking us off the beaten path and walked on the stream starting from that point. There were sellers selling plastic bag poncho for Rp 10k. You need to buy this, unless you came in a swim suit. My North Face rain jacket was useless in this condition. The stream turned into a small path between huge cliffs, there were little waterfalls coming out of the huge cliffs, we were literally walking among the waterfalls... You need to be there, I am having a hard time finding words in my vocabulary to describe the experience. All clear mountain water falling on us. The path lead us to a cul de sac that has 2 main waterfalls, we had to climb along the rocky walls to reach the area. Again, I don't know if this is off the beaten path or a normal tourist route, as it seemed overly 'dangerous' to climb along the rocks. Tips: 1. Bring/buy a poncho 2. Wear waterproof sandals. You don't want your shoes to get wet, and its not a good idea to walk barefooted as the rocks are quite jagged and slippery. 3. Our guide is a local who also hunt for wild honey at the forest by the waterfall, buy some home if you like pure honey.
